{Color Comparison} Mac Coral Crepe and Shiseido Tigers Eye

I used both of these in my last EOTD, but with the picture quality the difference in color wasn't really that noticeable, so I thought I'd post some comparisons!

I love these two colors together. I usually put Coral Crepe all over the lid, just past the crease, and then put Tigers Eye into the outer corner, crease, and lower lash line. They blend together sooooo well! I was also really surprised by how well they last, especially the Shiseido shadow. It's a lot creamier and smoother than a Paint Pot, but lasts just as well, which says a lot given that I've got oily skin. I'll try to post some more EOTD's with these shadows because I really have been using them just about daily!

Another {EOTD} Using Mac's Coral Crepe Paint Pot!

I went for something pretty simple, bronzy, ans wearable. I love pairing purple with either oranges or bronzes because it looks stunning on blue eyes, really making them pop! I know Coral Crepe isn't the easiest color to pull off because it can look a bit orange on some skin tones, but paired with the right colors it is surprisingly wearable!


Excuse the odd clumpy lash. I was in a bit of a hurry and didn't notice :(


I used Coral Crepe a lot lighter in this look than I did in my Mickey Contractor inspired look, which is why you don't really see as much orange. I'll post comparison swatches of Coral Crepe to something else later on!

{Tip Thursday} 5 Cheap Skin Care Secrets in Your Kithen

1. Strawberries. Strawberries naturally contain salicylic acid, which is found in many drugstore and high end acne products. Strawberries work well in treating acne and pigmentation problems! And they taste great too!

2. Oats. The same oats that are in your morning oatmeal work very well to exfoliate your face. They are gentle enough that they do not change the skins pH, which is why they are used to treat eczema. They soften and moisturize the skin. They also sooth puffy irritated skin as well. I will post a tutorial on a super simple oat facial mask later this week.

3. Yogurt (plain). The probiotic bacteria in yogurt kills off the bacteria that causes acne. When buying yogurt, make sure that is is organic and pasturized before the bacteria is cultivated. Many yogurts in supermarkets contain almost no live bacteria so if you use them on your face, it won't do anything.

4. Papaya. This one probably isn't in most kitchens, but a short trip away at the supermarket. Papaya is a natural skin lightener, so it helps treat skin discolorations and uneven pigmentation and age spots. It is also rich in antioxidants. And since it contains an enzyme papain, it is a natural non abrasive exfoliant. People pay a lot of money for facials that incorporate papaya, but you can mix up a facial at home for pennies!

5. Avocado. Avocados are incredibly hydrating, and not just for your skin, but your hair also. It super easy to mash up a bit of it and just spread it wherever you need some moisture. It will leave your skin smooth and supple and your hair very shiny.

{Reader Question} Why don't I purchase a lot of Mac makeup?

I was asked this question on my Formspring, and I thought I'd address it here instead because it is makeup related. First off, it's not a matter of price. Compared to other high end cosmetics brands like Chanel, YSL, Dior, etc, Mac makeup isn't that expensive. For instance, a Mac single eyeshadow is $14.50 while Estee Lauder is $20, Dior is $28, Shiseido is $25, etc. I has to do more with how I go about buying makeup. I have a fairly large collection, so if I already have a similar shade from another brand, I am not likely to purchase one from Mac that comes out from a new collection. I look for uniqueness in a product. Another thing is that Mac isn't sold at Sephora. I get a lot of gift cards to Sephora and am therefore more likely to shop there instead of spending my own money (not that I don't spend A LOT of my money on makeup else where). And finally, I feel like Mac releases too many collections. I mean, they have something around 20 collections each year. That's crazy! Most high end brands have four or five at the most! I feel like Mac tries to get me to buy makeup just because it's limited edition. Proof: Stereo Rose. It was sold out every where weeks before the collection even launched! That's insane! It's not like I'm never going to find a similar shade. I just feel that it is excessive sometimes. Combined with reasons number one and two, it's not entirely unreasonable that I don't purchase a lot of Mac makeup. It has nothing to do with pricing or just being against the brand. {EOTD} Inspired By MAC Mickey Contractor

This super bright EOTD was inspired by two of the colors in the Mac Mickey Contractor collection, Rani, a bright pink and Saffron, a bright orange. I didn't buy anything from the collection, but I really did like the colors, so I used a couple of similar colors I already own, including Mac's Coral Crepe Paint Pot!
